Worthing Fishing Boats and Pier

Group Travel

Worthing offers you a warm welcome and a memorable visit. Mixing its regal history with the modern day bustling town centre of modern shops and cafes, this thriving seaside resort sits below the South Downs - justifiably an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Worthing grew from a fishing hamlet when Princess Amelia was sent here by her father King George III. Information Boards along the seafront retell the history from the building of the Pier, to lifeboat rescues and sunken ships off our shores, promenading and marine life. But Royalty aren't our only famous visitors. Oscar Wilde wrote the "Importance of Being Ernest" here, "Wish you were here" and "Dance with a Stranger" were filmed here along with various pop videos and BBC dramas. Most recently it was the pranks and goings-on of the two bachelors in "Men Behaving Badly" that brought Worthing to your TV screens.

The Pier offers a beautiful stroll where you can see for miles along the coast to the east and west. Palm trees all along the promenade give a Riviera feel. Fishermen still sell their catches from their boats on the shores as they have done for centuries.

Worthing is uniquely flat with five miles of sea front and promenade adjacent to the paved shopping areas. The shopping area is bustling with pavement cafes and restaurants. On Wednesdays it becomes a market town with the weekly market through the main shopping precinct. Our beautifully kept gardens and parks including the famous Highdown Gardens are a MUST in any itinerary. The world class bowling greens at Beach House Park are open to the public.

Worthing Museum and Art Gallery should not be missed either, and if you are spending the night here, why not see a show at the Pavilion Theatre or join in one of the popular tea dances where large parties are always welcome.

We offer large hotels on the sea front and over night coach parking by the promenade. Reaching our neighbouring districts and attractions could not be easier via the A27 and A259.

Stay with us to explore, with ease, the attractions and sites around this beautiful part of West Sussex.
