One of the most significant archaeological discoveries in Britain this century, and the largest Roman domestic building found north of the Alps. Possibly the home of a Celtic King, Togidubnus, it has been dated to around AD75. It's glory lies in it's splendid "in situ" mosaics, the most extensive collection in Northern Europe, which can be seen with the remains of corridors, hypocaust, a bath suite and other artefacts discovered during excavations. In addition the northern half of the garden has been replanted to its 1st century plan and includes the triclinium, water feature, trellis work & pots typical of the period.
