Highdown Garden is a 90 year old garden set in the downland countryside. The Chalk Garden was created by Sir Frederick and Lady Stern, who worked for 50 years to prove that plants would grow on Chalk.

It is one of the least known gardens in the area, but is one that offers a inique collection of rare plants and trees. In fact, the whole garden has been deemed a National Collection and has achieved 'Green Flag' status, an accolade issued by the Civic Trust.

With beautiful views to the sea in front and across the downs behind, tearooms (open daily) and children's nature trails this is a garden well worth visiting any time of the year. Each season brings something new to Highdown and makes a fabulous backdrop to the outdoor Shakespearean performances by The Rainbow Theatre Company.

Free entry and parking. Opening times vary throughout the year.
