This is an important archaeological site. It has a late Bronze Age settlement and an early Iron Age hill fort with a pagan Saxon cemetery within the ramparts. The Miller's Tomb at this site is the grave of John Olliver, an eccentric Highdown Miller who slept with his coffin under his bed. He died in 1793. On a clear day one can see the Isle of Wight, Selsey Bill, Chichester Cathedral and Beachy Head.
