There's certainly nothing quite like a day at the seaside. There's nothing like the smell of the salty sea air mixed with that of fish & chips and candy floss to bring back those childhood memories of the classic British seaside. While away the hours and enjoy the miles of fabulous coastline.
With first aid facilities, KidSafe wristbands and friendly foreshore staff, you’ve got everything you could possibly need at Worthing for a traditional seaside break. With 5 miles of palm-tree lined promenade and the exciting new Splash Point, Worthings seafront is centred around its historic Pier.
Smaller beaches at Lancing, Southwick and Kingston offer peace and tranquility while Shoreham Beach, with its vegetated shingle, is an internationally rare habitat that contains such plants as Yellow Horned Poppy, Sea Kale and Curled Dock. These plants encourage a wealth of wildlife to the beach. This is why the area has been made a Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
Our fabulous location means we have amongst the highest number of sunshine hours in the UK, but you can still enjoy the beach out of season when the wind is blowing and the waves are crashing onto the shore.
Whatever the time of year, relax in a deck chair with an ice cream, buy some freshly caught fish straight off the beach, enjoy the coastal cycle route or take a romantic stroll along the waters edge.
If you'd like to bring your dog to the beach with you, please check which beaches welcome dogs during the summer season (May - September). There are no restrictions on the beaches in the Adur District but there are in Worthing.
- 1st May - 30th September dogs excluded between Heene Road and Splash point, and between the two boat launching ramps in Goring.
- 1st October - 30th April dogs can go on any part of the beach.
If you'd like to enjoy a BBQ, please check for any restrictions that might apply beforehand, be safe and leave the beach as you would like to find it.
You can check the tide times for the next 7 days for free or pick up a Tide Time Table. Available from the VisitWorthing Information Centre or the Foreshore Office, located near Worthing Lido.
More information about beaches is available on the Adur and Worthing Council website.
