Worthing landlady voted as one of the friendliest 25 landladies in the UK

Worthing B&B owner Sarah Huckwell was nominated by a team of hotel inspectors for the AA’s Friendliest Landlady Award 2011 for offering ‘exceptional hospitality to her guests at her seven bed. 4 star Guest House ‘The Moorings’.

Sarah was just one of 25 finalists – the only one from Sussex - shortlisted from over 3,000 bed & breakfast establishments, inspected and rated by the AA.

Although Sarah was nominated for the coveted title at the AA’s Bed and Breakfast awards lunch held on 16 May in London, she was pipped to the post by Lisa Holloway from Compton House in Newark.

Sarah, who runs the business with her husband Colin, says:

"I was absolutely delighted to be nominated and the fact that I didn’t win won’t stop me from trying to offer the best B & B service in town. I believe that the personal touch is what makes the guests’ stays so enjoyable, and keeps them coming back year after year - nothing is too much trouble and I do everything to the best of my ability."

Janice Fraser, tourism development & marketing officer for Adur and Worthing councils, adds:

"I’m absolutely delighted for Sarah and pleased that all her hard work has been recognised. She and Colin run a very good B&B and are setting the sort of standards in hospitality and quality that I’d like to see in all our visitor accommodation across the Worthing & Adur area."

Sarah was presented with a finalist certificate and a glass decanter at a special award dinner hosted by the AA at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London on Monday 16 May 2011
