Dr Black’s heroes and villains come to Worthing!

5th January 2012

Following the success of the Dora Gordine exhibition at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery Dr Jonathan Black has been invited to do a lunchtime talk about this flamboyant artist on Saturday 14 January 2012. This will also be the last chance to see the exhibition before it closes at the end of January.

Dr Jonathan Black is an expert in art history and is based at Kingston University. He did the research for the Gordine exhibition and has written several art books including co-writing the book Dora Gordine: Sculptor, Artist, Designer.

Dr Jonathan Black said: “I will speak about Dora’s sculptural heroes and villains. Heroes being sculptors such as Maillol, Rodin and Despiau and villains being Epstein, Moore and Hepworth. I will also explore the sculpture that she greatly admired from past civilisations such as ancient Chinese and Indian.”

The talk will be from 12.30pm on Saturday 14 January 2012 at Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, Chapel Road, price £3 per ticket. For further details contact 01903-221448.

This event is sponsored by Thomas Eggar LLPa law firm with national expertise and regional insight and Toovey’s Antique and Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers.
