Sussex Breakfast

The Sussex Breakfast is an exciting initiative designed to build stronger links between accommodation providers and local food producers.

What is a Sussex Breakfast?

Nothing says "I'm on holiday, I have time" better than a cooked breakfast; imagine how much nicer it tastes knowing you are eating the finest local ingredients. Sussex offers a wealth of delicious farm and hand crafted food including, handmade sausages, dry cured and smoked bacon from pigs reared outdoors, free range eggs, milk, cream and yoghurt processed on the farm, apple juice and in season; tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, apples, plums and pears. There are over 60 different types of cheese made in Sussex and a wonderful array of james, mustards and sauces. Bring these ingredients together and we have a 'Sussex Breakfast' with stories to tell about artisan producers, caring animal husbandry, and the beautiful Sussex landscape.

The scheme began operating in the 1066 area of East Sussex but has subsequently been introduced into all districts across the whole of East and West Sussex.

The aims of the Sussex Breakfast Initiative are:

  • Tastier & Healthier Food
  • Happier Animals
  • Sustaining Rural Communities
  • Keeping Sussex Beautiful

To claim a Sussex breakfast the establishment has passed an audit process guaranteeing they are serving 60% locally sourced, ethically produced ingredients. In return they show the Sussex breakfast symbol.

The following accommodation providers and cafes in Worthing have passed the audit and will serve you a truly tasty Sussex Breakfast!
